Frequently Asked Questions
Diamond (Heera or Vajra) is pure crystallized carbon the hardest natural substance on Earth. In Vedic astrology, it represents Venus (Shukra) the planet of love, luxury, beauty, creativity, and material pleasures. It is most beneficial for Taurus and Libra ascendants.
No Diamond is one of the more powerful Navratna gems and is NOT universally suitable. For several ascendants (Aries, Cancer, Leo, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Pisces), Diamond may be harmful. Always consult a qualified Jyotish astrologer before wearing.
Unlike most Navratna stones, Diamond is effective even at small weights. The minimum recommended is 0.25 carats (approximately 0.28 Ratti). For Venus Mahadasha, 0.50 to 1.00 carat provides stronger effect.
Yes White Sapphire is the most widely recommended substitute for Diamond in Vedic astrology. It represents Venus’s energy and is available at a fraction of Diamond’s cost. Other substitutes include White Zircon and White Topaz.
A GIA (Gemological Institute of America) certificate is a comprehensive grading report that precisely measures a diamond’s color, clarity, cut, carat weight, fluorescence, and any treatments. Uncertified diamonds have no standardized quality verification. Always purchase diamonds with GIA or IGI certification.
Diamond should be worn on the middle finger of the right hand, set in platinum or white gold. Silver is also acceptable. The setting should be open-backed to allow the stone to touch the skin.
Diamond (Venus) pairs well with Blue Sapphire (Saturn is Venus’s friend) and Emerald (Mercury is Venus’s friend). Diamond should NOT be combined with Ruby (Sun is Venus’s enemy), Pearl (Moon is Venus’s enemy), or Red Coral (Mars is Venus’s enemy) without careful astrological consultation.
Diamond pricing varies enormously: 0.25–0.50 ct (G/VS2): ₹30,000–₹80,000. 0.50–1.00 ct (F/VVS2): ₹80,000–₹3,00,000. 1.00+ ct (D/IF): ₹5,00,000–₹50,00,000+. Prices depend on GIA grades and market conditions.
